We are delighted to be offering Activator Training, an interactive and practical course designed to help support PGA Professionals in introducing more people to golf.

What is Activator Training?

The Activator programme equips individuals with the skills, confidence, and understanding needed to support fun, inclusive golfing activity for beginners.

 What’s involved?

By the end of the course, participants will gain a better understanding of:

  • Practical, non-technical coaching activities
  • Fundamental movement skills
  • Inclusion awareness
  • Teaching Games for Understanding
  • The role of the Activator vs the PGA Professional

 Who is the course for?

This programme is ideal for anyone who is:

  • New to helping with golf activity for beginners
  • Interested in supporting sessions at their club
  • A young volunteer, junior captain or vice-captain wanting to help peers enjoy golf
  • An existing volunteer who lacks confidence supporting a PGA Coach

No previous golf knowledge or experience is required — just a willingness to get involved and help out at your club.

 Age Guidance

  • Open to anyone aged 14+
  • Participants can support activity after completing the course
  • Coaching in a community setting can take place from age 16+

 Safeguarding Requirements

Before being deployed, Activators must:

  • Complete the Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport (CWPS) course
  • Be a member of the PVG Scheme through their golf club or facility

 What happens next?

Once trained, Activators will be able to support and deliver golfing activity to peers and school groups, helping grow participation within clubs and communities.
