Overview
Competition Organiser Training is offered as part of sportscotland’s contribution to help develop young people as leaders in sport. Competition is integral to sport. One of the key roles a young person can undertake is as an event/competition organiser, taking on responsibility to plan, organise and deliver events and competitions.

Aim
The aim of the training is to enable young people to experience and identify the essential aspects of well organised, safe, fun, fair and inclusive intra-school competition. Delivered locally in schools it helps equip trainees with the skills, knowledge and understanding to undertake the role of an event/competition organiser.

Workshop content (approx. 5-6hrs)

  • session 1 – experiencing successful competition
  • session 2 – what makes successful competition
  • session 3 – trialling different competition formats
  • session 4 – exploring competition organiser roles & skills
  • session 5 – delivering competitions
  • session 6 – recognising success

 Workshop requirements

  • 14yrs+ with a passion for sport
  • To gain the certificate, participants will be required to plan and deliver a festival or competition in their own school or community.
